Montenegro has become the world's newest country. Or rather, it's back!

This

country briefing is full of interesting information.

Montenegro - or Black Mountain - gained de facto
independence in the late 18th century, when it was ruled by bishop

As she dressed, she took more care over her appearance than she had done all those days, as though he might, if he had grown cold to her, fall in love with her again because she had dressed and arranged her hair in the way most becoming to her. She heard the bell ring before she was ready. When she went into the drawing room it was not he, but Yashvin, who met her eyes. Vronsky was looking through the photographs of her son, which she had forgotten on the table, and he made no haste to look round at her. "We have met already," she said, putting her little hand into the huge hand of Yashvin, whose bashfulness was so queerly out of keeping with his immense frame and coarse face. "We met last year at the races. Give them to me," she said, with a rapid movement snatching from Vronsky the photographs of her son, and glancing significantly at him with flashing eyes. "Were the races good this year? Instead of them I saw the races in the Corso in Rome. But you don't care for life abroad," she said with a cordial smile. "I know you and all your tastes, though I have seen so little of you." "I'm awfully sorry for that, for my tastes are mostly bad," said Yashvin, gnawing at his left mustache. Manufactured by Masterfoods USA / M&M Mars

There are approximately 500 Red M&M's ® per pound

Here's a fun trivia fact...

Red M&M's ® were discontinued for 11 years from 1976 to 1985 after the FDA banned Red Dye No. 2, even though Red M&M's ® did not contain this dye. They have always used Red #'s 3 and 40!

Many consumers protested, and a student at the University of Tennessee (Paul Hethmon, the photo editor on the student newspaper, the Daily Beacon) started a society for the Restoration and Preservation of Red M&M's.®

Red M&M's ® were reintroduced at about the same time as glasnost and the crumbling of the anti-Red scare.

Focus groups were held to decide the correct proportions for the gradual reintroduction of the banned variety during the Christmas season of 1985.

The new proportions were 30% brown, 20% red, 20% yellow and 10% each of orange, green and tan for plain M&M's.

sex assignment

Sex assignment refers to the assigning of sex at the birth of a baby. In over 99.9% of births, a relative, midwife, or physician inspects the genitalia when the baby is delivered, sees ordinary male or female genitalia, and declares, "it's a girl" or "it's a boy" without hesitation or uncertainty. The assignment is perceived as a recognition of an essential aspect of this new human being, apparent to everyone. In nearly all cases, usually without conscious deliberation, the parents rear the child as a member of the assigned sex/gender.

The act of assignment is a social act, and is in nearly all cases, and all societies, an act that seems a simple recognition of a simple biological reality. However, the usual act of assignment carries with it some conscious and unconscious assumptions, namely that the external genitalia reflect other aspects of biological sex, such as internal anatomy, gonads, hormones, and chromosomes. The act of assignment usually carries the implicit expectation that future gender identity will develop in the gender of anatomy, assignment, and rearing.

In a minority of cases one or more of these assumptions prove false. There have been rare instances where parents (for a variety of reasons) have reared a biologically normal child in the opposite gender. More commonly, in the case of some transgender or intersex individuals, gender identity does not simply follow the biological sex or sex of rearing. In some conditions usually termed intersex, the external anatomy does not reflect accurately the internal anatomy.

Surgery for Intersexed People

It's also possible to have XY chromosomes and be physically female.

"A woman with complete androgen insensitivity syndrome (CAIS) has a nearly normal female body despite a 46XY karyotype and testes, a condition termed testicular feminization in the past."

The People's Liberation Army (PLA) began to develop its new generation of service uniforms at the beginning of 1993. The new uniforms were presented to the Central Military Commission for approval in 1995.

The CMC held a meeting on April 10, 1995 to examine the new uniforms. By the approval of Chairman Jiang Zemin, who examined the new uniforms personally, the new generation of uniforms were first tried on by the PLA Garrison stationed in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region on May 1, 1997 and were introduced to the three services in the spring of 2000.
